The Only Wedding Planning Checklist You Need

April 28, 2020

Now that you’ve got a ring on, what comes next? Well, the hard truth is that planning for your dream wedding is no easy task at all. In fact, a wedding is probably the single largest event that you’ll throw in your life. With over 20 – 30 different aspects to juggle, it’s almost impossible to do this without a systematic plan, especially when it comes to the nitty-gritty details.

With planning, it’s always in your best interest to do so as early as you can – our usual recommendation is to start as early as 12 months ahead of your wedding day. By splitting the tasks into smaller pieces over a longer period of time will make it seem a lot more manageable. You can view our free customisable checklist here as a starting point on what elements you want and not want at your wedding.

Next is where you can delve deeper into each task and start thinking about the process of each element of your wedding. This is the information gathering phase and you want to soak up as much information about each process as you can. Of course, you don’t have all the answers, so this is a good point where you can start writing down questions to ask each specific vendor.

Go through your list systematically and ensure that you’ve planned to tackle the tasks that are more pending first. Always ensure that you try to book your vendors as early as you can, especially if you know your wedding falls on a popular date. Once you’re midway through your list, you’ll soon come to realise that the task is not as daunting as it once was. Just be sure to split the workload between you and your fiancé, and not take all responsibilities on yourself.

And yes, there will be times when things may start getting a little tricky but don’t be too hard on yourself, or each other, because it happens! Take a step back, a little breather, and trust that you’ll be able to circumvent this together. At the end of it all, the end goal is for you to celebrate your union with the love of your life, so just remember what’s important and don’t get too hung up on the small stuff!
